Comann nam Pàrant
WHO WE ARE AND WHAT WE DO

Comann nam Párant, Inbhir Narainn is run by parents of Gaelic Medium Education (GME) children in Nairn. Our focus is on providing support for other GME parents as well as identifying additional GM opportunities for the children.

Gaelic Medium Education

CnP can act as a good support mechanism for the school, Croileagan and Gaelic Toddlers and can speak on behalf of all parents with their authority.

Being a constituted group, CnP can attract and apply for funding that a school cannot and can promote GME within the community.

CnP works closely with Commun na Gáidhlig, Bòrd na Gáidhlig, Spòrs Gáidhlig, Fèisean nan Gàidheal as well as CnP National.

CnP endeavour to support extra curricular GM activities and have in the past organised paddle boarding courses, orienteering, nature/historical walks, shinty as well as drama.

With the help of funding from BnG and support from the Camanachd Association CnP Inbhir Narainn organised shinty for the GM children. This proved so successful in the community as a whole, that we have around 30 children signed up of which approximately half are GM pupils. Even though this is played alongside their English speaking peers, Gaelic is used during the sessions. Children have also attended Gaelic/Shinty development days as well as local shinty competitions including purely Gaelic teams.
